Help & answers

Frequently asked
questions.

Everything you need to know about the editor and your free downloads.

The maps

What is a Roadshome convergence map?

A convergence map takes every road from every neighbouring town within a region and routes it back to a single home point you choose. The resulting image shows the full road network as a glowing web of paths — busy corridors burn brighter, quiet lanes stay faint.

The underlying data comes from OpenStreetMap, and the routing algorithm is a real shortest-path calculation (Dijkstra's algorithm), not a stylistic approximation.

How do I choose my home point?

Type any city name or address in the landing page gate — the editor will geocode it and snap it to the nearest road node. Once inside the editor you can fine-tune the exact coordinates.

The home point can be anywhere in the selected region: your childhood home, a favourite restaurant, a summit, or an airport. If it's on the map, all roads can lead there.

Are the maps unique to me?

Yes. Every map is generated live in your browser from the coordinates you provide. No two home points produce exactly the same image. Palette, border, and title are also yours to customise — the editor gives you real-time control over all of them.

Digital download

Is the digital download really free?

Yes, always. Roadshome is completely free: PNG and PDF exports cost nothing, require no account, and have no watermark. You can re-export as many times as you like while the editor is open.

PNG exports at roughly 300 DPI on an A4 sheet — press-ready quality. PDF is also A4 by default; square and landscape orientations follow the aspect ratio you choose.

Do I need to create an account?

No account, no sign-up, no email — nothing. Pick a place, customise the map, and download it.

Can I use the file commercially or print it myself?

The map image is yours for personal use — hang it, gift it, or take it to a local print shop. Commercial resale of generated images (selling prints made from our output) is not permitted without prior written agreement.

Editor & regions

Which regions are supported?

Currently available regions include Europe, the United States, Australia, North America, South America, and Africa. Each region's road graph is pre-processed from OpenStreetMap and embedded in the browser — the editor works entirely offline after the initial load.

New regions are added periodically. If yours isn't listed, the digital download is always free and you can send the file to any local print shop.
